he somehow also managed to record and produce 3 albums
himself, the first of these being Steve Gadd & Friends

Dr. Steve Gadd
  BOSTON, 2005:

Abraham Laboriel, Patrice Rushen, and STEVE GADD received
honorary doctor of music degrees for their outstanding contributions
to contemporary music, and treated the crowd to a surprise
performance at Berklee College of Music’s 2005 Entering Student Convocation, Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at the Berklee Performance Center. STEVE GADD, one of the most in-demand drummers in the world, and
has worked with such artists as Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder,
Paul Simon, and Aretha Franklin, among many others, said after accepting his degree that the honor was extra-special because
he was sharing the moment with Rushen, and Laboriel, two of his
closest musical peers. “This is probably my only chance to get a honorary degree because I’m not the greatest student in the world.”
said Gadd. “But I love music. I found one thing that I loved and I just
kept on doing it…and if I can do it, I believe you all can do it.
Welcome aboard.”

"STEVE GADD's drumming on ’50 Ways To Leave Your Lover’,
for instance, is the archetypal example of a drummer halfway selling
a song before the singer has even started"

Mission From Gadd Europe Tour Update:

Zildjian is pleased to announce the rescheduled dates for the
Mission from Gadd European tour which was postponed due
to the grounding of flights into the UK after the ash cloud from
the volcano in Iceland. The rescheduled dates will take place
during the first 2 weeks of September - see below for full info.
Furthermore, due to the rescheduled dates, it has also been
possible to add an extra date on the tour which will be
in Manchester on 7th September.

With this announcement, Steve Gadd explained "I was very
disappointed that we had to postpone the first few dates of the
tour due to the volcano, but I'm excited to come to the UK and
Ireland in September and meet all the drummers." Gavin
Thomas, product manager for Yamaha Drums and Zildjian
added "We have heard that the unaffected dates in Holland,
Germany, Italy and Spain have been an amazing success so
I am so grateful to Steve that he has been able to find time
to re-arrange everything. With the addition of a new date in
Manchester and moving to a larger Theatre in Dublin it is
wonderful to know that even more people will now get the
chance to experience the show."

The rescheduled MFG Europe dates are as follows
(please note all dates are subject to change):

• Fri. 3rd September - Reading, UK @ The Hexagon

• Mon. 6th September - Dublin, Ireland @ The Helix

• Tues. 7th September - Manchester, UK @ RNCM

• Wed. 8th September - Edinburgh, UK @ ECE

• Fri. 10th September - Paris, FR @ La Cigale
